Youth Volunteer Program

Key Volunteers Support Volunteers General Volunteers Meetings

Meetings
1. Youth Volunteer Training: 7:00 pm on June 18 or June 19. All youth volunteers must attend one of these.
2. General Camp Orientation: June 24, time TBD at O'Neil Park. All youth volunteers must attend this.
3. Area Program Managers Training: June 24, 12:00 Noon at O'Neil Park.
4. Rangemaster Trainging: 12:00 Noon on June 24 at O'Neil Park.

Key Youth Volunteer Positions

ALL Key Volunteer positions will need to be interviewed. Contact the Youth Staff Director Brian Jenkins at (949) 858-4470 or the Camp Director Mike Oftedahl for an appointment.

AM and PM Youth Volunteer Directors - (Must be on-site am and pm sessions all 5 days, or we need 2 - one for am and one for pm) Manages youth volunteer program and key members. Rank Requirement: Life or Eagle
AM and PM Youth Volunteer Program Directors - (Must be on-site 45 minutes prior to the start of the session and can leave 45 minutes after the session is completed) Manages Youth Area Program Directors and Youth Volunteer rotation schedule. Rank Requirement: Life or Eagle
AM and PM Ceremonies Directors - (1 or 2 positions) Will train wolves and Bears in proper flag etiquette and run all flag up/down ceremonies and retirements (1 per session) Rank Requirement: Star or Above
Merit Badge Liaison - (1 or 2 positions) Will interface between Scouts and Merit Badge Counselors for Camp Credit. Rank Requirement: Star or Above
Quartermaster's Assistant - Will manage supply distribution and tent. Support staff of 2 - 4. Rank Requirement: Star or Above

Support Volunteer Positions

Area Program Managers - Will assist and run each program area with the adult Program Manager on site. In many cases this staff member will handle the entire program. Rank Requirement: 1st Class and must be competent public speakers. Will be interviewed on May 5. Approximately 8 program area managers per session per day (16 total per day)
Traffic Coordinators - Manages traffic in and out of the park and through drop off areas. Must be at campsite 45 Minutes prior to start of camp for each session and stay through camper pick up. Rank Requirements: 2nd Class and Above
Bugler - Assists Ceremonies director with flag duty and marks transition Rank Requirements: 2nd Class and above
Photographer - This youth should have access to his/her own photography equipment (ideally this person would have a digital camera; Day camp is not responsible for broken or damaged equipment) Rank Requirement: None
