EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURE


Emergency Contacts


Mike Oftedahl / Camp director (or designee) will announce "CODE RED" over walkie-talkies and PA system. Staff will begin blowing whistle signal and direct all camp participants to report immediately to the Opening/Closing gathering area. Once assembled & the need for evacuation is necessary, Camp Director or designee will direct as follows:

Every possible adult with a vehicle will place as many passengers as possible into their vehicle. Leave the park under the direction of the Park Rangers and drive to the following staging areas:

A. Leave through main entrance and evacuate to the left - Drive to the parking lot of Saddleback Church (El Toro Road & Portola Parkway - Santa Margarita Pkwy becomes Portola.) Reassemble there under the direction of: Cheryl McElwain / Health & Safety Officer, Dawn Tengwall / Daycamp Admistrator, and George Cravens & Jim Currie / Program Directors. Once reassembled, immediately take roll for your den. Check in with name of persons you evacuated.

DO NOT LEAVE THE STAGING AREA UNTIL DIRECTED TO DO SO AND YOU HAVE CHECKED OUT WITH STAGING AREA TEAM.

B. Leave through main entrance and evacuate to the right or if directed to use any other park exit into Rancho Santa Margarita - Drive to the Target Parking Lot (Los Flores & Santa Margarita Parkway) Reassemble there under the direction of: Cheryl McElwain / Health & Safety Officer, Dawn Tengwall / Daycamp Adminstrator, George Cravens & Jim Currie / Program Directors. Once reassembled, immediately take roll for your den. Check in with names of persons you evacuated.

DO NOT LEAVE THE STAGING AREA UNTIL DIRECTED TO DO SO AND YOU HAVE CHECKED OUT WITH STAGING AREA TEAM.

Please remain calm. After arriving at the staging area, help get the campers settled and supervise them. Listen and follow the directions of the Staging Area Directors.

Jim Jackson / Shooting Sports Director and the Archery Session Manager will remain at the Archery Range to secure that area before evacuating.

Mike Oftedahl / Camp Director, Ray Dougherty and Jon Lagerquist / Program Directors and Thom Spratt / Traffic Control will remain at O'Neill Park until all camp participants are evacuated.
